This is me 🤓

 

A very young me, but me nonetheless.

In 2018, my wife and I decided to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and ran for the hills with our 2 young children. We now live in the KZN Midlands where I work full time (and 99.5% remote) as a software developer for a well-known South African fashion retailer.

I love coding and have a particular affinity for integrating with API's. My years in retail and ecommerce have exposed me to a variety of API's, and have given me the opportunity to create a few of my own.

I have also had the privelege of being tasked with creating some ecommerce back-office integration applications and services, so I know and understand the challenges associated with running an ecommerce site and hooking into third-party systems.

I am likely the world's shoddiest example of an "IT guy": I love being outdoors, exercising, gardening, "farming" (I really cannot call myself a farmer - keeping some animals alive does not make one a farmer), riding motorbikes and generally doing things that I am far too old for.

I like cars and sound and have yet to fiddle with this "chatGPT" thing that's got the world's tongues wagging.

I'm not a blogger or a vlogger, or a Facebooker or a Youtuber, don't keep my Tweetagram updated, and have yet to figure out how to set a WhatsApp status. As far as I'm concerned, the world doesn't need to know when I'm doing... something.

On our little off-grid farm we have a few sheep, some chickens, 3 dogs, a cat with half a tail, and 2 feral children.

In my spare time... oh wait, I don't have any! :P
